Community Land for Community Benefit

Dornoch and District Community Association (DADCA) recently announced the acquisition of land in Elizabeth Crescent, Dornoch. The site will provide five affordable self-build plots with planning permission, prioritizing local residents and people who work in the area.
DADCA has now applied for planning permission on the remainder of the site for 6 self-build plots to be sold on the open market. DADCA will reinvest the income from these plot sales in community projects in Dornoch, including the potential development of a new Community Centre.

Dornoch Area Community Council are firmly supportive of the initiative and have lodged a planning application on behalf of DADCA to obtain planning permission for the open market plots.

Local residents can review the planning application in April on the Highland Council planning portal.

Carol Morrice Chair of DADCA said ‘We are delighted to have been able to secure the affordable housing plots for our community.  On the back of this we acquired the additional land to which we hope to obtain outline planning permission ahead of private sale to raise much needed funds for the future of our community’.
