You would think the roads office at least would get the name right, for there's many a mile from Brora to Knoydart. Last week they announced the closure for tests with wind turbine carriers of the Strathcarnoch road - that's beside Loch Nevis. They meant the U527 Strathcarnaig road, along Loch Buidhe to Migdale, but the NT slavishly followed the advert.

Unlike the recent Clyde launch - which needed two tries and then the vessel hit the opposite bank - the Princess Royal made no mistake when she smashed the bottle against the new mussel dredger Gizzen Briggs at Meikle Ferry. Liz Quinn reported it as a bottle of champagne, but no, it was best Glenmorangie malt. Slainte.
